Guess what…Sunway Pyramid is home to the first Tuk Tuk Cha outlet in Malaysia!
How cute is this – a cheerful pink Tuk Tuk greets you in the center of Tuk Tuk Cha’s outlet! Drawing inspiration from the Thai icon – a Tuk Tuk, and an international symbol for tea – Cha, Tuk Tuk Cha serves up delicious Thai tea, coffee and yummy desserts for all you sweet-toothed people.
Needless to say, Tuk Tuk Cha is famous for their Thai Milk Tea, followed by another crowd favourite Green Milk Tea. Prices start at RM5.50 for the regular cup and in total, Tuk Tuk Cha has over 15 types of drinks.
Each batch of black tea leaves is steeped for one to one and a half hours to ensure maximum flavour and fragrance in each cup. The tea is then mixed with imported condensed milk from Thailand to yield a smooth, rich and milky taste.
Tuk Tuk Cha’s Thai Milk Tea tea makes us want to kick up our feet and laze around on bright sunny day while enjoying the cool breeze running through our hair.
According to Tuk Tuk Cha’s founder Chris, the authentic Thai Milk Tea is much sweeter than the version served here in Malaysia. After taking in feedback from customers in both Singapore and Malaysia, Chris decided to reduce the amount of sugar to cater to local taste and preference.
Green tea lovers would instantly fall in love with this refreshing Green Milk Tea version, steeped from green tea leaves and infused with sweetened milk.
Tuk Tuk Cha’s Hojicha offers a yummy twist on the traditional green tea – serving up a hint of nutty, earthy, roasted flavour which is both satiating and energizing.
Aroiii Mak Mak! – our reaction when we took a sip of this Thai Milk Coffee. Imagine icy cool, super ‘kau‘ coffee made with Thai coffee beans and smooth condensed milk.
This can definitely measure up to the kopi ais kau served at most of our local kopitiam joints. Simply yum!
For non-milk drinkers, this homemade Roselle will brighten up your day in a heartbeat. If you’re a fan of lemongrass, try a fusion of lemongrass and roselle for a lighter flavour.
For food, Tuk Tuk Cha has over 17 flavours of Shibuya toast and golden toast varieties, waffles and not forgetting…Thai ice cream! This was absolutely delish! Each bite of golden toast is crunchy yet buttery and fluffy…melting in your mouth with the sweetness from Milo powder and condensed milk. The golden toast also comes in the Nutella version – where you can choose to slather on as much ooey gooey chocolatey Nutella as you please.
For Shibuya toast, Chris recommends the Mango Tango, Aloha Coconut and Tuk Tuk Matcha versions. Mango Tango features a generous serving of creamy mango ice cream, fresh mango chunks, mango and chocolate drizzle on a huge block of Shibuya toast. For a tropical experience, go for the Aloha Coconut toast – topped with coconut ice cream, coconut shavings, flesh and chocolate drizzle.
Other recommendations: Cocoyolk Ice Cream (fresh egg yolk, coconut ice cream and coconut meat), Tuk Tuk Cha’s DIY Waffles (try the Red Velvet and Original ones), Ice Blended and Smoothies!
